What Do You Want To Take From 2020?

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it’s ordinary and mundane and routine.

Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”

~ L.R. Knost

I originally posted this quote at the end of 2015, but I think it’s fitting for the end of 2020 as well.

I know this has been such a crazy year and of course it’s easy to think of all the challenges we are dealing with.

And even in the midst of the craziness, there is beauty, kindness, happiness, and love. We cannot control everything that happens in our lives, but we can absolutely choose what we want to focus on and how we want to react to what is happening.

How do you want to BE in the midst of all of this?

Maybe you want to be Joyful. Or Loving. Patient. Kind. More willing to make mistakes. More willing to ask for help. More focused. More productive.

That is one thing you can take with you from this year.

What else can you take with you?

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to explore:

  1. What was one of the most interesting things I learned this year?
  2. What was one personal strength I used this year? How did it benefit my work or life?
  3. What was one of my most challenging moments? Why?
  4. What was one of my favorite accomplishments?
  5. Of the books I read this year, which was my favorite? What do I want to remember from it?

I would love to hear what you come up with!
